Pounding the Table                                                                                                                                                                                        Deborah Kreuze

There’s no point seating a square
inside another square.
Neither of them is happy
despite what you might think
you circles full of stars.

        They become
the plan           the border
         of a chimney;

the plane’s the blame      the blasted pane a fencing blemish scar arcane marked far
a scene arrested black in turncoat archer forest opera      noturningback
flatness’s eternal itch unscratched      a face no blade of grass can lick

Please move on to a different problem,
one with structure, interior, edge,
a point
              a • god • damn • point
